A recorded breeding date gives a useful starting point for kidding preparation, but it cannot predict the exact day a doe will deliver. This goat gestation calculator adds the current MSD Veterinary Manual’s 150-day average to the entered service date and also displays its published 145–155 day range. Penn State Extension independently reports the same 145–155 day range, so the planning window is backed by two veterinary or extension authorities rather than an unsourced farm rule.

Use a known hand-breeding or insemination date when possible. If a buck ran continuously with does, conception could have followed any successful service during that exposure. In that situation, run the first and last plausible breeding dates and widen the calendar accordingly. The formula cannot identify conception from a turnout date, a missed heat, body shape or an uncertain memory.

The single date is the breeding date plus 150 calendar days. The early edge is plus 145 days and the late edge is plus 155. The MSD manual notes that breed, litter weight, environment and parity can affect gestation length. Penn State gives a 149-day average in dairy goats while retaining the same 145–155 range. That one-day difference is disclosed rather than blended: this page uses MSD’s current 150-day cross-goat average and treats the range as more useful than the point estimate.

A date calculation does not confirm pregnancy, fetal number, fetal viability or maternal health. MSD states that serum testing and transabdominal ultrasonography can be used from about 30 days after breeding and identifies 40–70 days as the best ultrasound window for counting fetuses. Those are veterinary-management milestones, not additional outputs here, because availability and interpretation belong with the attending veterinarian.
